Vocab #4

Displacement Mapping: Alternative mapping technique where you use a texture or height map to cause an effect to where the geometric points are displaced.

Bump Mapping: A mapping technique where one adjusts the textures to simulate bumps and wrinkles on the surface of the object.

3D Rendering: the computer process of automatically converting 3D wire frame models into 2D wire frame models with 3D photo realistic effects or non-photo realistic effects.

Alpha Channel: The process of combining and image with a background to give the effect of partial or full transparency.

NURBS vs. Polygons: Nurbs are models more used for flexibility and precision purposes, being more technical along with the work. Polygons are a more basic and require less surface work in order to model.

Tiling: The process of subdividing a computer graphics image by a regular grid in image space to show difference in space in the scene.

Skinning: To create a new interface on a graphical interface through combining the inner layer with the outer skin.

Aperture: A portion of memory physical address space which is persistently associated with a peripheral device or a memory unit.

Shutter Speed (Photography?): The length of time a camera's shutter is open while taking a photograph.

Focal length: Measure of an optical system for how strongly the system converges or diverges light.

Dolly: A piece of equipment designed to create smooth camera movements.

Pan: To move a camera around the specified object or a technique to change viewpoints on an object.

Roll Aspect Ratio: And objects ratio to its perspective width and height.

Vocab #2

Line- A long, narrow mark or band

Shape- The form of an object or its external boundary, as opposed to other properties such as color, texture, material composition.
Form/ Volume- A shape, visual appearance, constitution or configuration of an object/ quantity of a three-dimensional space enclosed by some closed boundary.
Color- The visual perceptual property corresponding humans to the categories called red, blue, yellow, green and others.
Value/Tone- The degree of lightness or darkness in an area.
Texture- Perceived surface quality of a work of art. Element of two-dimensional and three-dimensional design and is distinguished through its physical and visual properties.
Space- Boundless three-dimensional extent in which objects and events have relative position and direction.
Perspective- The art of drawing something on a two-dimensional surface so as to give the right impression of their height, width, depth, and position in relation to each other when viewed from a particular point.

3 point lighting

Today, I worked on my 3 point lighting. I need to finish my animation in Photoshop though

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

Didn't make that much progress today, Maya crashed a couple of times so then I started to work on my light saber but still didn't make that much progress.

Render

Today, we worked on rendering an object, I'm not near done but I'm gonna try to finish next class
